TAO TE CHING 41

Masterpieces_of_Ch_2715157b

Great scholars

Hearing The Way

Practice and follow it diligently

Average scholars

Hearing The Way

Preserve it one moment

Lose it the next

The lowliest men

Hearing The Way

Explode with derisive laughter

Without laughter

We couldn’t become Tao!

Thus these sayings establish that:

The Way to enlightenment seems dark

The Way of advancement seems backwards

The Way of easiness seems difficult!

Supreme virtue is like an empty chasm

Great purity seems filthy

Abundant virtue seems deficient

Constant integrity seems unsteady

The greatest method has no limits

Perfect ability matures slowly

The greatest music is silently sung

The greatest form has no body or shape

Tao hides namelessly

Yet only it

Has the vitality

To provide perfection
