TAO TE CHING 50

fight

Depart from life

Enter into death

The disciples of life

Are three in ten

The disciples of death

Are three in ten

The lives of people

Just passing through

The gates of death

Are also three in ten

For what reason?

Because they live their lives

Too intensely, seriously, and excessively

Indeed, I have heard

Those who excel at preserving life:

Travel over dry land

Without encountering rhinos or tigers

Enter battlefields

With neither armour nor weapons

Rhinos cannot find a place

To thrust their horns

Tigers cannot find a place

To sink their claws

Warriors cannot find a place

To wet their blades

Why is this?

Because they leave no room for death
